Writing

I've had a wonderful couple of months taking a break from doing videos and writing on the blog. I'm feeling it's been healthy in terms of having something to write about. Sometimes I feel something has been said already if I'm songwriting and it could have been something I commented on or wrote about on the blog - missed opportunity to create.

I have about 5 new songs, the most recent idea is written below, not completed as yet, but a good nucleus for a new tune. I was watching this show called The Singing Office on TLC with Stephani yesterday. Mel B and Tony Fatone go into a local business and invite office workers to make a band and compete for $50G. Yesterday it was a local car dealership competing against a real estate company. One of the girls (who in my opinion was quite talented) was really down on herself, doubting her abilities. It was only when she forgot about that, her real talent shone through. I think all of us have some part of our self that we are ashamed of that keeps us feeling a little insecure, so with that in mind this song popped out.

Change Me

I'm gonna look in the mirror
And I'm gonna like what I see
I'm tired of getting down on myself
I'm tired of being me

Gonna wake, give my head a shake
and begin
Gonna look myself in the eye
and say you're alright kid
I'm not buying into the lie
Cause it's always rigged, always

Chorus
We've been on the road for so long
It's time we sang a different song
I just want to feel I belong
Change me, Change me

I'm gonna turn it around
Get up if I bring myself down
Gonna visualize myself
Minus twenty pounds

Gonna move, find a better groove
and get on
Gonna breathe in, deep in, deep out
Step up and look you right in the eye
and have my mind made up
Coming out on top

Chorus
We've been on this road for so long
It's time we sang a different song
I just want to feel I belong
Change me, Change me

I'm hoping to keep my head down on the recordings and get a nice batch of 4 or 5 released at the same time. I might even take the rest of my stuff off IAC to showcase these new songs on their own. The older songs are alright, but I'm thinking IAC might be the place to put up blocks of material, see how it does, then take it down. I'd also like to choose 5 of my very best tunes and put out an actual CD. This is really for two purposes really, the first one being money, I'd like to make a little money from my art, not a lot, but enough to invest in a better computer and to fund the development of a new home studio, and the second reason is to have something that kind of officially establishes Gary as a recording artist, something to hand to someone in the industry that represents me.

We'll see how all of this goes. I will be keeping everyone here up to date on all of that as it happens.

Life is too short not to try and live your dreams! Don't give up - you know you've found some fans here. Loved the song you did about Kew!
